Hybrid workplace lockers, powered by the Metra Smart System, were added by Randstad USA to their new office design as part of their hybrid workplace model.
The office can be the curator of community —that’s hard to replicate from the comfort of home. It’s a space that promotes feelings of togetherness, a place where everyone has collective opportunities and convenience that’s hard to match. By prioritizing conveniences and employee experience, companies can make the office desirable.
Randstad understood that a hybrid workplace model requires intentional planning with every employee in mind to create a desirable, flexible, and future-proofed space in the design. They partnered with a leading architecture firm that understood that the way the office operates today would look vastly different six months to a year from now. The flexibility of the Metra smart locker software allows Randstad to evolve how employees use the lockers — while continually providing them with a safe and secure place to store their belongings.
What’s often considered an afterthought in office design, Randstad got it right by intentionally planning for the hybrid work model with (Metra) smart lockers. Not only did they provide their employees with a safe place to store their belongings, but Randstad put their employees first by creating a safe and clean user experience and setting the expectation that they are cared for. The system’s flexibility allows Randstad to customize how they use the lockers — even for the secure exchange of goods — today and in the future.
The Randstad Atlanta office has over 700 employees, and it was important that even though there is no longer a 1:1 desk-to-employee ratio, the lockers were 1:1. There are always enough areas for employees to work in regardless of how many come into the office, and the lockers needed to follow suit. Hybrid workplace lockers needed to be located throughout the floors in spaces that were accessible and convenient.
Just as the office will continue to evolve in how the employees use the space, so will the smart lockers. “We don’t know what the office is going to look like in the future,” the Director of Workplace Solutions at Randstad said. “But this customized solution of Metra smart lockers allows us to take it on, no matter what.”
Metra smart lockers in locker banks equipped with Metra’s 4-inch and 10-inch displays offer employees a streamlined and user-friendly experience that they should come to expect when they come into the office. With various ways to access a locker — RFID employee badge, mobile credential on the phone or watch, mobile app — there is no need for employees to hassle with a 4-digit PIN or pull-on handles.
