A company specializing in the manufacture of edge-banding tapes and distribution of furniture industry material for furniture manufacturers wanted to simplify the ordering process and improve the customers’ experience. They introduced outdoor pickup lockers equipped with the Metra Smart Locker System, which enables their B2B and B2C customers to collect the ordered products when it suits them best, outside the company’s working hours.

The company is a leading provider of edge-banding tapes in Europe and an exclusive sales agent for a number of renowned trademarks sold in Slovenia, the Balkans, and Europe. They were looking for a smart solution to improve and simplify their sales process and enable their customers to get the products they need even outside the company’s working hours. Many of their customers are different contractors who need to have the ordered products available to them late in the afternoons, early in the mornings and during weekends.

Metra worked closely with the company to create a solution which would solve those needs and requirements in the best possible way.
Their outdoor pickup lockers are equipped with the Metra Smart System with the Metra Display ISO and managed remotely by the Metra Locker Management software and the Metra delivery management software. The outdoor pickup lockers are also integrated with their third-party CRM and Sales tracking software.
The company offers a wide variety of construction and furniture materials of various shapes and sizes. Therefore, the turn-key parcel locker solution, where the actual locker comes with two or three pre-set compartment sizes, was not an option.

Their fully custom outdoor parcel lockers enable frictionless pickups of over 90% of the products they offer, including the products which measure over 4,5 meters / 15 feet in length (e.g. Rails for sliding doors).
The dropoffs to the parcel lockers are made by their warehouse personnel. When the ordered products are available for pickup, the customer receives a message with the pickup PIN Code on the mobile phone, simplifying communication and the actual pickup.

Metra auto-open smart locks, which, once unlocked, also pop open the locker doors, which makes the pickup process even easier.
