The Jungfrau (transl. “Maiden, virgin”), at 4,158 meters (13,642 ft) is one of the main summits of the Bernese Alps in Switzerland. Together with the Eiger and Mönch, the Jungfrau forms a massive wall of mountains, one of the most distinctive sights of the Swiss Alps. The Jungfrau is part of the Jungfrau-Aletsch area, which was declared a World Heritage Site in 2001. The Jungfrau Railway runs 9 kilometers to the highest railway station in Europe at Jungfraujoch (3,454 m), between the Bernese Oberland and the Upper Valais in Switzerland. Their rental ski lockers for skiers and hikers are powered by the Metra Smart Locker System.

The Metra smart locker system is used for two custom smart solutions for rental lockers at Jungfrau railway stations in Switzerland. Metra’s two-part smart locker solution consists of smart ski depo lockers for skiers, providing on-door unlocking and self-service rental lockers for skiers and mountain hikers.

The smart ski depo lockers are meant for skiers can easily store their skis, helmets, and other personal equipment. A skier can unlock a ski depo locker with its valid ski pass.
The smaller self-service rental lockers, equipped with Metra Touch Display 10, are meant for mountain hikers, tourists, and skiers to easily and securely store their backpacks and other smaller items. A locker can be accessed with a provided PIN code or by using the credit card that was used to rent the locker.

Both Metra Smart locker installations at Jungfraujoch railway station are probably among the highest, or can even be the highest smart locker installations in the world.
