Project Description

The Jungfrau (transl. “maiden, virgin”), at 4,158 meters (13,642 ft) is one of the main summits of the Bernese Alps in Switzerland. Together with the Eiger and Mönch, the Jungfrau forms a massive wall of mountains, one of the most distinctive sights of the Swiss Alps. The Jungfrau is part of the Jungfrau-Aletsch area, which was declared a World Heritage Site in 2001. The Jungfrau Railway runs 9 kilometres (5.6 mi) to the highest railway station in Europe at Jungfraujoch (3,454 m (11,332 ft)), between the Bernese Oberland and the Upper Valais in Switzerland.

Metra smart locker system was used for custom smart locker solution at Jungfrau railway stations, comprised of smart ski depo lockers for skiers and separate, self-service rental lockers, which can be used by hikers.

Skiers can store their skis, helmets and else into ski depo lockers, which they can unlock with their individual ski pass media. Hikers can pay for smart rental storage lockers with their credit cards, which also functions as their key for the rented locker.

Metra smart storage lockers, positioned at Jungfraujoch railway station, which probably makes them one of, if not the highest smart lockers in the world.
