Smart tennis lockers equipped with the Metra Smart Locker System at the Rod Laver Arena, because the world-class players need a world-class user experience, from the locker room to the tennis court.

Rod Laver Arena is home to the Australian Open, the first tennis Grand Slam tournament of each year.
As part of the facility upgrade, the old battery locks in the player’s lockers needed to be replaced with a more reliable, sustainable, and maintenance-friendly solution. Changing batteries every year was time-consuming and costly, and battery locks would also sometimes fail to open.
TA approached Metra Australia with the request to upgrade their 750-player lockers to a reliable, low-maintenance, and user-friendly solution. A high priority for TA was that the locker management software be easy to use and provide up-to-date, real-time reporting for the event management team. The Metra smart locker management software was used.

The smart personal lockers with pull-up doors in the four change rooms in Rod Laver Arena use the Metra Smart Locking system. Each change room includes multiple Metra Displays with external Metra RFID Readers, which the players use to access their assigned lockers via their building access cards.
During the locker retrofit, the Metra team also designed a solution to adapt the joinery of each retrofitted locker This ensured that nothing would interfere with its use. The end result is a sleek look and seamless operation of the lockers.

The management software makes it easy for the event team to allocate single or multiple lockers to each player, run reports, and monitor locker usage. So no racquet gets stuck in lockers, especially not right before the finals!
