GPARC (Gunyama Park Aquatic and Recreactin Centre) brings together four pools, a large fitness centre, outdoor sport and recreation facilities, a café, a creche and community meeting rooms. Serving such a wide mix of visitors meant the facility needed 280 lockers and 50 pigeon holes, along with a locking system flexible enough to handle both members and daily guests.

The answer was Metra Smart Systems. Daily guests use the Metra Touch Display 10, a centralised self-service point for renting a locker, while members rent lockers at the point of sale and open them with the Metra on-door RFID reader.

Members enjoy exclusive access to certain areas of the facility, so it was essential that their award-winning 360 membership card could also open their locker. Metra Dot Technology made this possible, giving members one card for everything.

For casual visitors, convenience was the priority. Kiosks located right at the locker banks let them pay with payWave and choose a locker on the spot. Linked to Metra Smart Daily Locker Technology, the kiosks issue a PIN code that secures the locker for a set period. Because guests no longer need to queue at the front desk for a ticket or wristband, they get to the pool or gym faster, and staff are free to focus on other tasks.

Behind the scenes, every casual transaction and every member access is handled through seamless integration with the facility’s management software.

The lockers and pigeon holes themselves are built from moisture-, bacteria- and corrosion-resistant High-Pressure Laminate, with full-length aluminium hinges for stability, finished in “Light Stone Grey” and “Sea Green”. They were supplied by Metra Australia, which brings over 100 years of combined leisure industry experience.
